Abstract

The Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (2002) adopted during the second world assembly on ageing highlighted the need to consider older persons in development planning, emphasizing that older persons should be able to participate in and benefit equitably from the fruits of development to advance their helath and wellbeing and the societies shoud provide elderly friendly environments for them. The elderly should also become the part of the workforce and the governments should also design innovative policies and public services specifically targeted to older persons, including those addressing, inter alia, housing, employment, healthcare, infrastructure and social protection. In the light of the above, an attempt has been made in this paper to identify the opinions of the aged towards the employment and their priorities
